The second edition will pass through Cordoba, Cadiz, Madrid, Alicante, and Seville, where the Final Master will be held, distributing €20,000 among four NGOs, in addition to highlighting the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at each tournament hole and offsetting the neutral carbon footprint with a reforestation action in Doñana.

The II edition of the Andalucía Equality Golf Cup had its unveiling on Wednesday at the Benito Villamarín Stadium, organized by Forever Green, less than a month before the start of its first of five tests. Seville will host the Final Master on September 28, hence today’s kickoff to an event that goes beyond sports. Its main objective is to promote the destination of Andalusia by becoming the first golf circuit in Spain with a solidary, egalitarian, inclusive, and sustainable character, with AENOR certification for neutral carbon footprint, offsetting it with a reforestation action in the Doñana National Park.

The Andalucía Equality Golf Cup is an experience where real inclusion and equality are lived. Additionally, each player shows their most charitable side by supporting 4 NGOs such as FEPAMIC, Juegaterapia, Fundación Blanca Fernández Ochoa, and the Real Betis Balompié Foundation, among which a €20,000 solidarity fund will be distributed. A circuit aligned with the 2030 Agenda that will put all its machinery to work to give maximum dissemination and visibility to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), dedicating each hole of the course to a company or institution that is a reference in achieving that goal. In this way, the talent and awareness of these entities to achieve a better world and contribute to combating climate change are highlighted.

In short, a pioneering and innovative circuit where nearly 600 people, including celebrities, journalists, and golfers in general, will get to know Andalusia in the best way. The event director, Margarita Pérez-Calderón, emphasized that they surrounded themselves with “the best travel companions,” such as the Association of Andalusian Businesswomen for Sustainability (ANSEMAC) and the consultancy ECOTERRAE, with whom a “green” circuit was designed. “We will teach participants sustainable habits to incorporate into their daily lives.” For example, participants will have to fill out a questionnaire about their carbon footprint, they will be given 100% sustainable polo shirts, they will have to use reusable bottles to refill water, and they will be able to enjoy sustainable cuisine from Michelin-starred chef Xanty Elías.

“Xanty will bring the essence of his Finca Alfoliz to each of our tests so that we can experience extremely high-quality cuisine committed to the environment, innovation, zero-kilometer products, and compliance with the 17 SDGs. Undoubtedly a pleasure for the senses and a gift for the soul,” emphasized Pérez-Calderón.

The delegate for Tourism, Culture, and Sports of the Junta de Andalucía in Seville, Minerva Salas, pointed out that the challenge is “to highlight all the good things that Andalusia has, which is a lot, through sports.”

On her part, the president of ANSEMAC, Esperanza Fitz, highlighted the fact that it was a sustainable event to “minimize all the negative impacts that may occur on the environment and leave a beneficial legacy for all the agents involved. Its organization entails an act of responsibility with the environment and people.”

Finally, Rafael Muela, manager of the Real Betis Balompié Foundation, pointed out that “this type of action is absolutely ideal to endorse the work done through Forever Green. We want to proclaim and be a spokesperson for all the good that society does to fight climate change. This is a clear example that uses sports as a tool for change, reaching the hearts of people, because just like with football, society is mobilized.” “We are happy to be part of this great project.”

The Andalucía Equality Golf Cup will kick off on April 21 at the Real Club de Campo de Córdoba, continuing on May 18 in Puerto Real (Cadiz), a second stop that will take place at Villanueva Golf on May 18. The third test will host the II Memorial Blanca Fernández Ochoa at the Race in Madrid on June 29. The last qualifying event will be held at Villa Aitana (Benidorm, Alicante) on September 8. The Final Master will take place on September 28 at the Real Club de Golf de Sevilla. In each of its five appointments, the “Santi Roldán Journalist Prize” will remain in force after his tragic loss last year.
