Decathlon and the Association of Brands and Bicycles of Spain (AMBE) have signed an agreement with the purpose of promoting the use of bicycles, taking advantage of emerging market trends and strategies that favor urban and healthy mobility.
This alliance aims to improve well-being in Spanish cities by promoting active, efficient and environmentally friendly mobility.
The cycling sector is undergoing a process of transformation, in which urban mobility, particularly electric mobility, is gaining relevance.
It is estimated that by 2030, sales of electric bicycles will exceed those of conventional bicycles, consolidating a change in the forms of transport in cities.
In this scenario, Decathlon is positioned as a key player, collaborating with institutions and authorities to promote a more sustainable transport model, focused on health, safety and respect for the environment.
Both entities have the common goal of improving people’s quality of life by promoting a more active lifestyle, which favors cardiovascular health and physical well-being.
In line with this philosophy, Decathlon has presented its European Transition Plan towards Sustainable Mobility, which includes initiatives such as supporting the creation of a European Declaration on Cycling, the development of regional sustainable mobility strategies, and the promotion of the rental, purchase of second-hand bicycles and leasing of electric bicycles.
In addition, the company is committed to the circularity of key materials and the development of batteries for electric bicycles, contributing to the advancement of the sector.
Through its Second Life program, Decathlon facilitates the purchase and sale of used sports products, thus encouraging reuse and recycling.
Likewise, its workshop service is focused on extending the useful life of products, while the rental of bicycles, both mechanical and electric, allows citizens to access flexible solutions that adjust to their daily needs.
