At Forever Green, we celebrate initiatives such as Spain’s Sustainability Day (SDD), organized by Turespaña in collaboration with its Tourism Board in London. This event, part of the ‘Spain Talks, caring for the future’ calendar, reaffirms Spain’s commitment to tourism sustainability and highlights its leadership in this field.
The second edition of the SDD, which took place at The Conduit private club in London, addressed the current and future challenges of sustainable tourism, from the circular economy to biodiversity and accessible tourism. Miguel Sanz, general director of Turespaña, stressed the importance of moving towards more sustainable practices that preserve the environment and promote social inclusion.
The event was attended by leading speakers from the British and Spanish tourism sector, as well as representatives of international organizations. In addition to debates and presentations, awards were presented to publications that value the sustainability of Spain as a committed tourist destination.
Manuel Butler, director of the Spain Tourism Office in London, emphasized the focus on social sustainability as part of the ‘Spain for All’ campaign. The event provided a unique opportunity to establish alliances between key players in the British and Spanish tourism sectors, fostering the exchange of ideas and collaborations.
We highlight the collaboration of Benidorm and Mallorca, pioneering destinations in tourism sustainability. Benidorm has managed to reduce water consumption and improve urban accessibility, while Mallorca has reaffirmed its commitment with projects such as the new pedestrian path financed by tourism.
The success of Spain’s Sustainability Day demonstrates the global commitment to more sustainable and resilient tourism. At Forever Green, we are proud to support these initiatives and help build a future where tourism is a positive force for the planet and communities.
