Real Betis Balompié and professional sports are once again showing their commitment against climate change by holding -for the third consecutive season- the Forever Green match, LaLiga’s sustainability match. This season’s matches will be between Real Betis and UD Almeria on Sunday, May 12. This match aims to promote environmental protection and sustainability through 40 actions throughout the day of the clash.

At Forever Green, we are proud to announce the return of the Forever Green match, an initiative led by Real Betis Balompié in collaboration with LaLiga to promote environmental sustainability. This year, Real Betis will face UD Almeria at the Benito Villamarin Stadium on Sunday, May 12, in an event that seeks to promote environmental protection through more than 40 sustainable actions during the day of the match.

The presentation of this exciting day for sustainability took place in the Ecohuerto of Bioalverde’s organic farm, in the town of Dos Hermanas. Rafael Muela, manager of the Real Betis Balompié Foundation, explained to the media the actions that will be carried out during the three Forever Green matches. In addition, the green and white soccer player Chadi Riad participated as a sponsor of the event and shared his enthusiasm with the media.

This year, the theme of the Forever Green games will focus on the threat posed by drought to our planet, promoting the responsible use of water. Real Betis will present two sustainable kits: the pre-match shirt and the playing kit, made from 100% recycled polyester, in line with the principles of the circular economy.

The Forever Green kit designs aim to raise awareness about the responsible use of water, reflecting the impact of climate change on our fields, affected by the worst drought on record. In addition, during the match, players will use reusable bottles instead of traditional disposable water bottles as part of measures to reduce the use of plastic.

During the day of the match and the days leading up to it, numerous sustainable actions will be carried out to promote the sporting event and raise environmental awareness. We will have garbage cans for garment donation, sustainable garbage bags made with plant fecula, promotion of sustainable messages in different formats and many more.

These initiatives demonstrate the commitment of Real Betis and LaLiga to environmental sustainability and care for the planet. At Forever Green we encourage everyone to join the Forever Green Party cause. Together we can make a difference for our planet!
