The sustainability platform in its first twelve months consolidates Real Betis Balompié as one of the European clubs most committed to the environment.
Forever Green celebrates its first year of life working for and for the care of the environment.
Real Betis Balompié, through this sustainability platform, has consolidated its efforts to fight climate change during these months.
Firm in this commitment to the environment, the green-and-white club has calculated the carbon footprint of the last three seasons, becoming the only football club in LaLiga to have verified its last three-year calculation of greenhouse gas emissions, including the impact of business trips and transfers of its employees.
With this data on the table, Forever Green and Real Betis Balompié are on their way to net zero CO2 emissions in future seasons.
Beyond this commitment, the Club, by joining The Climate Pledge, is committed to helping achieve climate neutrality by 2040, even before the goal of the Paris Agreement.
In addition, Real Betis Balompié was the first club from the five major European leagues to join the United Nations’ Climate Neutral Now.
The sustainability platform has developed more than 50 actions over the last year.
These include cleaning up natural spaces, the installation of a fleet of scooters for employees and in the future for fans, recycling campaigns, the development of an Eco-Garden in one of the most disadvantaged areas of Europe or the creation of a volunteer corps for Forever Green actions.
The Club’s own facilities have also been adapted during these months to reduce their impact on the environment as much as possible.
In addition, such important institutions as LaLiga -the entity with which Forever Green was presented-, the National Futsal League, the Spanish Padel Championship and the team of the first division of the Mexican LaLiga Basketball, Abejas de León, have also joined the environmental project of Real Betis Balompié.
One of Forever Green’s objectives is to be a mouthpiece for all those organizations and entities that have joined the fight against climate change with concrete actions to inspire society to join this mission. Thus, the sustainability platform already has more than 50 companies and organizations adhered to. In addition, 16 companies have joined as partners in the areas of action of Forever Green such as Arus, Bureau Veritas, Ecoterrae, Ecogranja La Pradera, Ecovidrio, Packaging and Recoveries, English Connection, Eternal Energy, Cajasol Foundation, ECOLEC Foundation, Moovit, Lime, Kipin Energy, Patatas Arrebola, Play Station (Sony) and Wuolah.
As a result of these months of work, Forever Green has become known worldwide, obtaining more than one billion impressions and reaching 50 countries, according to data provided by Blinkfire and Kantar.
The sustainability platform has also been present at the COP 26 Climate Summit recently held in Glasgow, a presentation in which Forever Green acted as an example to other entities so that their activity, including their sporting events, have the least possible impact on the environment.
The platform wants to continue growing by adding entities and initiatives in order to expand the movement and multiply its impact in the fight against the climate emergency.
An exciting year.
12 months of learning and working.
An innovative sustainability platform that has positioned Real Betis Balompié as one of the clubs in Europe most committed to the environment, showing itself to be green not only in the colors of its shield, but in all the values of the entity.
