The Club verdiblanco and Forever Green have achieved Bureau Veritas certification for the calculation of emissions derived from their activity.

Real Betis Balompié has achieved certification on the measurement of the Club’s Carbon Footprint, derived from the development of its activity during the 2018/2019, 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 seasons.
Thus becoming the first national soccer club to certify its last three consecutive seasons.

Real Betis Balompié, through its technical ally in sustainability and climate change, the Sevillian consulting firm Ecoterrae, has carried out the measurement and emissions reduction plan of the Club (including Stadium and Sports City).
In addition, and as an example of their efforts, the Scope 3 emissions of the employees’ daily travel, as well as the business trips and travel of the first team, have been evaluated.

Currently and complementing this milestone, the Club is not only immersed in the process of registering these studies in the national and regional platforms of MITECO and SACE, but also in the study of the compensation of its climate impact through reforestation projects.

This validation has been obtained after Real Betis Balompié passed the independent audit process carried out as a third party by the Bureau Veritas Certification Body, a world leader in auditing and certification services.
This certification certifies that the Club has calculated greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, indirect GHG emissions caused by imported energy, those caused by transport and indirect emissions caused by water consumption.
With this action, Real Betis wants to continue reducing its negative impact on the environment and offsetting the Carbon Footprint linked to its activities.

The audit validation criteria carried out by Bureau Veritas has been the international standard ISO 14064-1:2018, with the 4 categories determined by the standard: direct emissions, indirect emissions caused by energy, indirect emissions caused by the organization and emissions by products used.

“This certification is the confirmation of the effort that Real Betis Balompié has been making for years to minimize its impact on the environment.
A work that we have increased since the birth of Forever Green.
This verification endorses the efforts, projects and actions that we are carrying out with our employees and fans of Real Betis together with the organizations that have joined Forever Green, said Rafael Muela, manager of the Real Betis Balompié Foundation and spokesman of the sustainability platform promoted by the Real Betis Balompié.

Francisco Martín Santamaría, regional director of Bureau Veritas, pointed out that “for us it is an important milestone to validate this calculation of the Carbon Footprint of Real Betis. A pioneer Club in this validation, not only complying with the requirements of the referenced standard, but also additional aspects that affect water consumption or the consumption of fertilizer for the grass itself. This work done by the entity and Forever Green excites us because it is a transversal platform that transcends society with the ability to influence and raise awareness on environmental issues”.

The Bureau Veritas certificate reinforces the work that Real Betis -through the Forever Green sustainability platform- is doing for the environment through the five areas of action of the project (nature, climate change, sustainable club and sustainable mobility).
Among the measures are the Ecoempleado campaign, eco criteria for the selection of the Club’s suppliers, the reduction of water consumption, the improvement of the recycling system, the sustainable mobility of employees and the awareness-raising actions to reduce the carbon footprint in sporting events and in the day-to-day life of the fans.
