This initiative, which is part of the ‘Circular Seas’ program – developed by Chelonia Association, Ecomar Foundation, Zero Waste Association and League for the Protection of Nature (LPN) and promoted by Coca-Cola – has managed to collect a total of 986 kilos of waste, including 85 kg of pet and 510 kg of glass.
The PET collected will be reintegrated into Coca-Cola’s value chain as part of its roadmap towards the circular economy.
Waste collection activities on the beaches are being resumed with all the necessary safety measures after a few months in which the project has had to adapt to the restrictions dictated by the authorities.
Beatriz Codes, Head of Public Affairs, Communication and Sustainability of the Southwest Region of Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Iberia, highlighted the importance of collaboration between different institutions in “favour of environmental sustainability and awareness to ensure that our marine environments are preserved and no waste ends up in them. We must be aware that we all have a responsibility that we must assume to leave future generations a better environment than the one we find ourselves in. We are grateful for the collaboration of the volunteers who have set an example of what, together, we are capable of achieving”.
