The green and white club and Forever Green are launching, together with ICONICA, initiatives to promote sustainable transport, the use of reusable cups and the carbon footprint of the festival will also be measured.

Forever Green continues to grow beyond sports and adds a new ally in the world of culture. Real Betis Balompié and Iconic Sevilla Fest have joined forces to raise awareness through environmental actions, around the development of the Festival, to be held in the emblematic Plaza de España, between September 15 and October 15, 2022.

In this way, Icónica Sevilla Fest and Forever Green will promote the use of sustainable transportation, offering promotional discounts on Lime electric scooters to spectators and the use of reusable cups with the presence of Real Betis’ sustainability platform. Additionally, both before the home team’s matches and in the minutes leading up to the start of the concerts, videos about Festival and Forever Green actions will be displayed on the screens.

In addition, and as a novel measure in the cultural world, Iconic Sevilla Fest will also measure its carbon footprint to work on future editions of the same have a lower environmental impact on the city. It should be noted that in ICÓNICA Sevilla Fest, we are facing an event that features respectful and environmentally friendly lighting throughout the historic venue that hosts it, the Plaza de España in Seville, a masterpiece by Aníbal González, through the use of LED lights.

At the signing of the collaboration agreement, Javier Esteban, director of ICÓNICA Sevilla Fest, expressed his satisfaction with ICÓNICA’s commitment to sustainability, thanks to the support that the Festival receives from Real Betis Balompié and Forever Green. As expressed in previous appearances and communiqués, ICONICA wants Seville to be a flag of music, culture and tourism, but all this can only go hand in hand with correct environmental actions, taking care of the space that hosts the Festival, the Maria Luisa Park and the Plaza de España, a holy place of the city, both in terms of heritage and the important lung that is for the city.

For his part, Rafael Muela, manager of the Real Betis Balompié Foundation and responsible for the execution of Forever Green’s actions, said at the signing that “musical events, like sporting events, have a great impact on the mobilization of people, so they are a great opportunity to involve citizens in initiatives as necessary as the one the Festival is launching, joining forces in its common goal with Forever Green and against climate change, which is already affecting us as a society. We are facing an emergency and we all have to join forces”.

Along with this commitment signed this Wednesday, Real Betis and the Sevillian festival will hold raffles so that the lucky winners can enjoy the Icónica Sevilla Fest experience and a match at the Benito Villamarín Stadium in first person.
Real Betis’ environmental sustainability platform, which already has several worldwide recognitions and more than 70 collaborations, adds a new collaborator in the world of culture, along with others that were previously had such as the Seville European Film Festival, the Concert Music Festival or the Spanish film Héroes de Barrio.
