The green-and-white club & Forever Green, together with ICÓNICA, are once again launching initiatives to promote sustainable transportation and the use of reusable cups, as was done in the 2022 edition.

Forever Green continues to expand beyond sports and adds a new ally in the world of culture. Real Betis Balompié and Icónica Sevilla Fest join forces again in this III edition of the Festival of the Plaza de España in Seville, as they did last year, to raise awareness through environmental actions surrounding the development of the Festival, which will take place in this emblematic space from June 15th to July 22nd, 2023.

In this way, Icónica Sevilla Fest and Forever Green will promote the use of sustainable transportation, offering promotional discounts on Lime electric scooters to spectators and the use of reusable cups with the presence of Real Betis’ sustainability platform. Additionally, both before the home team’s matches and in the minutes leading up to the start of the concerts, videos about Festival and Forever Green actions will be displayed on the screens.

Along with this, and as a novel measure in the cultural world already implemented in 2022, Icónica Sevilla Fest will also measure its carbon footprint to work towards reducing the environmental impact of future editions in the city. It should be noted that in ICÓNICA Sevilla Fest, we are facing an event that features respectful and environmentally friendly lighting throughout the historic venue that hosts it, the Plaza de España in Seville, a masterpiece by Aníbal González, through the use of LED lights.

At the signing of the collaboration agreement, Javier Esteban, director of ICÓNICA Sevilla Fest, expressed his satisfaction with ICÓNICA’s commitment to sustainability, thanks to the support that the Festival receives from Real Betis Balompié and Forever Green. As expressed in previous appearances and statements, the Festival aims for Seville to be a beacon of music, culture, or tourism, but all of this can only go hand in hand with proper environmental actions, taking care of the space that hosts the Festival, the María Luisa Park, and the Plaza de España, a landmark of the city both culturally and for its significant green area.

Rafael Muela, manager of the Real Betis Balompié Foundation and responsible for Forever Green actions, valued at the signing that “musical events, like sports events, have a great impact on mobilizing people, so they are a great opportunity to involve citizens in initiatives as necessary as the one the Festival is launching. We are happy to join once again an event of the level of ICÓNICA Sevilla Fest, and to join forces in its common goal with Forever Green and against climate change, which is already affecting us so much as a society. We are facing an emergency and we all have to join forces.”

The environmental sustainability platform of Real Betis, which already has several recognitions worldwide and more than 80 collaborations, thus adds for the second year to this cultural collaborator, along with others that were made previously such as the Seville European Film Festival or the movie “Héroes de Barrio”.


A milestone and reference in Europe

ICÓNICA Sevilla Fest, fully consolidated from southern Spain as one of the great musical and experiential milestones in Europe, celebrates its third edition between June 15th and July 22nd, 2023, in the emblematic setting of the Plaza de España in Seville.
