The agreement aims to improve the transportation of Real Betis fans to Liga and Europa League matches.

Real Betis Balompié and Moovit, an Intel company, a leading provider of Mobility as a Service (MaaS) solutions and the most widely used urban mobility app in the world, have signed a collaboration agreement on mobility.

The purpose of this collaboration is to facilitate and promote sustainable mobility in travel to matches by combining all possible options, either by collective public transport or through any micromobility alternative such as public or private bicycles, scooters or on foot.
Fans will receive turn-by-turn instructions to fans attending Betis matches, whether playing at home or away.

In addition to offering multimodal journeys that combine all the mobility options available in Seville and its metropolitan area, this multimodal planner is available in 45 languages, a fundamental aspect for a team like Betis that receives football fans from different countries.

This commitment to sustainable mobility is another achievement of Forever Green, an initiative launched by Real Betis Balompié in the challenge of achieving zero emissions and reducing the carbon footprint caused by travelling to matches.

Post-covid mobility

The agreement includes new functionalities developed during the worst months of the pandemic so that fans will be able to receive real-time information on public transport occupancy levels, which will allow them to avoid crowds and feel safer when travelling by metro or bus.
Moovit now offers three occupancy levels: “available seats”, “standing only” and “very full” and this information will appear both in the details of the user’s planned journey and in the general information of stops, lines and favorites in the app.

On the other hand, fans will receive alerts and notifications that will always be visible on any screen of the app in the event of any situation arising from a health emergency or serious incident on mobility in the urban and metropolitan areas.

Commitment to sustainable mobility

Another fundamental factor of this agreement is to promote the use of sustainable transport both through the use of mass public transport and all micromobility options.

The use of personal mobility vehicles (PMVs), which has burst onto the urban space of so many cities, is mainly composed of low-speed, small and light means of transport that run on electric energy and are typically used in short-distance trips.

For Rafael Muela, manager of the Real Betis Balompié Foundation, “sustainable mobility is one of Forever Green’s areas of action on which we have been working since the beginning of the sustainability platform. Having a company as committed as Moovit as an ally will help us to ensure that our sporting events have a lower impact on the environment, encouraging our fans to access the Benito Villamarín Stadium in a sustainable way”

For his part, Manuel Molés, head of partnerships at Moovit in Europe, says that “it is very gratifying to see the commitment to sustainable mobility that the Forever Green initiative entails. The fact that a club like Real Betis Balompié is firmly committed to improving the travel of fans and, at the same time, to reducing the carbon footprint, is a milestone in the world of sport that we hope will serve as a reference for many other teams”.
