The Club verdiblanco and the Sevillian consulting firm have presented their collaboration agreement in the Laguna Fuente del Rey, a natural area of the City of Dos Hermanas where both entities symbolized their union by planting trees.

Forever Green was born with the clear vocation of aligning and responding through sport to the great global challenges in terms of sustainability.

As part of this commitment, in 2021 Real Betis Balompié began collaborating with Ecoterrae, a Sevillian consultancy specializing in climate change and sustainability, which has set itself the goal of helping to become more resilient to climate change and working to integrate sustainability into each of the Club’s areas.

The presentation of this agreement took place in the Laguna Fuente del Rey, a natural space located in Dos Hermanas that offers refuge to a large number and variety of birds throughout the year.
The event was attended by Francisco Rodríguez, mayor of the town council; the president of the Real Betis Balompié Foundation, Rafael Gordillo; the manager of the entity, Rafael Muela, and Laurina and Rubén Cornejo, players of Real Betis Féminas and Real Betis Futsal.

During the event, both entities proceeded to plant two trees as a symbolic representation of this alliance.
The setting of the event is equally representative as it is a natural enclave that 30 years ago was nothing more than a rubbish dump and that today boasts of being an example of environmental restoration, thanks to the mobilization of its neighbors and the collaboration with the City Council of Dos Hermanas.

Ecoterrae’s technical team has calculated the Carbon Footprint of the last three seasons of Real Betis Balompié (2018/2019,2019/2020 and 2020/2021), not only of its Scope 1 and 2, but of Scope 3 (including business travel, workers’ mobility and water consumption).
This measurement has allowed the Club to design a reduction plan towards the total decarbonization of its CO2 emissions, contemplating in its strategic plan the neutralization of emissions through national and international projects.

In addition, Ecoterrae supports Real Betis in the design of a Sustainability Plan aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, which not only works on the fight against climate change (SDG 13).
This plan has made it possible to listen to the Club’s stakeholders and design the future actions that the Club will develop in terms of sustainability.

“It is an important milestone that Real Betis Balompié, through Forever Green, has managed to position itself in international soccer as a driver of change towards a business model where sustainability is increasingly integrated into the daily lives of its employees,” said Daniel García, CEO of Ecoterrae.

Rafael Muela, manager of the Foundation and spokesman for Forever Green, said that “This event is a reason to celebrate because it is a privilege to have the technical support of a Sevillian entity with the solvency and drive of Ecoterrae. And if we also do it in this framework, even better”.

The Club hopes to continue this alliance with Ecoterrae to work on new objectives for the coming seasons.
