The Green and White Club and Forever Green join this Framework along with 228 other sports entities
Real Betis Balompié and Forever Green join the United Nations’ ‘Sports for Climate Action’ initiative as signatories of the Sport Climate Action Framework.
The ‘Sports for Climate Action’ initiative calls on sports organisations to recognise the contribution of the sports sector to climate change and our responsibility to fight for climate neutrality for a safer planet.
Real Betis joins this initiative with the first team and all its sports sections: basketball, futsal, women’s football and the Genuine team.
Through collective action and bold leadership, we have the power to make this transformation.
By signing the Framework, we have demonstrated a commitment to play our part in ensuring that the sports sector is on track for a low-carbon future.
In line with the five basic principles enshrined in the Paris Agreement Framework and objectives, Real Betis Balompié will work to promote greater environmental responsibility, reduce the global climate impact of sport; use our platform to educate for climate action, promote sustainable and responsible consumption; and advocating for climate action through our communications.
We hope that our commitment will inspire our fans, society and government to increase their climate ambition in a joint effort to reduce global warming to 1.5 degrees.
It’s a race we can – and must – win to prevent the risk of droughts, floods, extreme heat and poverty from significantly worsening for hundreds of millions of people.
