The international consultancy has ranked the entity as the second most sustainable team in the Old Continent and the first in LaLiga, according to its annual report on the most valuable and solid brands of the Football Sustainability Index.

The Real Betis brand stands out in the annual report on the most valuable and solid brands of the Football Sustainability Index conducted by the prestigious international consultancy Brand Finance. The green-and-white entity is the second most sustainable European football club and the first in LaLiga in the ranking of the clubs most committed to sustainability.

In this new report, Brand Finance analyses the 50 most sustainable football clubs, according to the perception of fans, based on environmental, social and governance considerations, essential aspects for brands due to their considerable impact on all stakeholders around a football club.

The sum of the points obtained by Real Betis in these three aspects places the Verdiblanco entity in the second position in this ranking, only below Liverpool FC and above teams like Real Madrid, Udinese Calcio, or AC Milan.

According to the results of the report, the Betis club occupies that second place in perceived sustainability with an overall score of 83/100. In aspects such as governance, Real Betis scores 96/100, and in the social realm, 90/100.

One of the reasons for this achievement is the creation in 2020 of Forever Green, the environmental sustainability platform of Real Betis that combines efforts among companies and entities from other sectors to use the football platform to save the planet from the effects of climate change.

During these more than two years of Forever Green’s existence, Real Betis has already carried out over 100 actions, reaching 75 countries, involving 60 organizations, companies, and clubs, and gaining exposure in 195 media outlets worldwide. In addition, thanks to all the work carried out, the Club has managed to save 3,500 tonnes of CO2, which is equivalent to 21,500 trees planted.

Since last season, the green-and-white entity has been preparing the Non-Financial Information Statement, which includes the necessary information to understand the evolution of environmental, social and governance issues, key aspects of the 2022-26 strategic plan and which are already being valued by society as reflected in the Brand Finance report.

“This second place in the Brand Finance sustainability ranking gives us strength to continue working as we are doing with Forever Green, on a social level through the Real Betis Foundation and applying good practices at the business level. Being the second team in this important ranking makes us feel very proud,” said Ramón Alarcón, CEO of Real Betis.

Last May, the Real Betis brand also stood out in the annual Brand Finance Football 50 2022 ranking, being the brand that grew the most in LaLiga and the eighth in the world with a 33% increase during the last 12 months before this report, ranking globally at 43rd.
