Real Betis Balompié, Valencia CF, the RFEF and the Junta de Andalucía join forces to launch the first sustainable grand final in which the Carbon Footprint will be measured
The final of the Copa del Rey, scheduled for next Saturday, April 23 in Seville, will become the first major sustainable final in which the Carbon Footprint will be measured. Likewise, an emissions reduction plan will be established with the aim of reducing the emissions generated by this major sporting event. In this way, Forever Green will also be present at this historic event for Real Betis Balompié.
To this end, the Royal Spanish Football Federation, Valencia CF and the Green and White Club have joined the initiative promoted by the Regional Government of Andalusia, through the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Sustainable Development, which will oversee this entire process. This pioneering action in its field will make it possible to advance sustainability policies in football and materialise the commitment of all these actors to social responsibility and the environment.
In this way, those attending the match will be invited to fill out a short survey through this link https://forms.gle/KWoryZvfbuJkCRHd7 to find out, for example, how they have travelled to the match, information that will help calculate the carbon footprint. To encourage all attendees to fill out this survey, a raffle will be held for the special jersey designed for the Final signed by all players.
The RFEF has welcomed this joint action that deepens the sustainability policies it is developing, also in line with the Strategy launched by UEFA. Likewise, the Junta de Andalucía, through its Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Sustainable Development of the Junta de Andalucía, Carmen Crespo, has considered that this action allows the whole of society to be involved in the fight against climate change and to advance in collective awareness.
In addition, a campaign will be carried out for fans to go by public transport to the La Cartuja Stadium, taking into account the planned reinforcement of public transport, as well as the dissuasive car parks.
Likewise, those attending the match will be able to count on a recycling bag that will allow them to deposit their waste in it and that will later be collected in specific themed containers at the different exits of the stadium.
All this, in addition, will be supported by ONCE volunteers who, in addition to carrying out their work accompanying people with reduced mobility to their respective seats, will collaborate with OK Planet volunteers in informing fans of these environmental measures. In this way, they will also become volunteers for human and environmental sustainability, thanks to the agreement signed between the RFEF and the ONCE Foundation.
