We at Forever Green are proud to announce a historic milestone in the soccer industry. Real Betis Balompié, with its more than 116 years of legacy, has become the first club to present a Sustainable Mobility Plan for its emblematic Benito Villamarín Stadium.

Forever green has 5 strategic axes, which are recycling, nature, sustainable club, climate change and mobility. Among its objectives is to join forces between soccer clubs, companies and entities from other sectors to use the loudspeaker that soccer represents to save the planet from the effects of global warming. Thanks to Forever Green, Real Betis is the most sustainable soccer club in LaLiga and the second most sustainable in Europe, according to a recent study conducted by Brand Finance.

The recent study carried out by Forever Green and Real Betis: “Sustainable Mobility Study of the Benito Villamarín Stadium”, has as its main objective to promote sustainable mobility among workers and fans, aligning perfectly with our strategic axes at Forever Green. With the goal of enhancing health, reducing environmental impact and improving the quality of life in the community, Real Betis demonstrates a tangible commitment to the environment and social well-being.

The club measured the Carbon Footprint in a Forever Green match against Athletic Club de Bilbao, noting that 91% of the emissions correspond to the transportation of fans.. That is why Forever Green has taken on the challenge of making the transportation of fans and workers more sustainable.

To better understand the situation, we conducted a survey with revealing data: 52% of spectators travel to the stadium by car, while only 11% do so on foot, so there is still a lot of work to do to become a 100% sustainable club over time. Some opinions and suggestions from visitors and workers advocate a shift towards more sustainable mobility. From the availability of secure parking for bicycles and electric scooters to improvements in public transportation, community voices are being heard and considered.

Moreover, future opportunities are promising. With an increase in social awareness of sustainable mobility and the backing of European policies, we are on the right path to a greener and healthier future.

Forever Green Mobility Center will soon be a reality, providing a safe infrastructure for bicycles and electric scooters, and further promoting sustainable mobility at the Estadio Benito Villamarín and beyond. At Forever Green, we encourage you to continue to support sustainable transportation, and we will soon provide more tips on how to live a more environmentally friendly life.

Since the birth of Forever Green, more than 60 entities have joined the platform and dozens of actions have been developed, 15 of them under the campaign “don’t leave a footprint, leave a mark” with a message of fighting climate change and involving fans through specific activities. The campaigns have been broadcast through 195 media outlets around the world. In addition, thanks to all the work carried out, the club has managed to save more than 3,500 tons of CO2which is equivalent to 21,500 trees planted.

At Forever Green, we celebrate this achievement, just the beginning of an exciting journey towards a more sustainable future in the soccer industry. Join Forever Green!
