UEFA has announced the launch of a carbon footprint calculator designed specifically for football organizations, a breakthrough that marks a significant milestone in the fight against climate change.
This carbon footprint calculator, unveiled at the Emirates Stadium in London, is part of UEFA’s Football Sustainability Strategy 2030, which integrates climate advocacy as a central aspect. The goal of this online tool is to empower member federations, clubs, and leagues to become active drivers of change by enabling them to assess and comprehensively understand their carbon emissions.
Developed in collaboration with 12 football organizations over more than two years, this calculator focuses on specific areas of football, such as mobility, purchased goods and services, facilities, and logistics. According to Laura McAllister, UEFA’s vice president, this launch embodies the ambition to demonstrate that football can be part of the solution in the global effort to reduce carbon emissions.
